DIN-3 passthrough adaptor |
Parts needed :
A male and a female mini-DIN3 connector (for cable mounting, see pictures below). May be a little difficult to find, though; major mail-order sellers of electronics parts should have them (as a last resort).
Some wire thin speaker cable will do.
One of the +5V DC supply solutions (I chose the game port version here)
Once you found the connectors, the adpator itself is quite simple similar to the cable splicing solution (but without doing any harm to the original ELSA adaptor). It won't help you with DDC problems caused by the monitor driving the DDC line, though.
Have a look at the schematic and the picture to get the wiring right. Connect pins 1 (GND) and 2 (L/R) of the two connectors (gray cable in the picture) and your external +5VDC source to pin 3 of the female connector (red/black wire in the picture). Note that the connectors have a metal, a (hard) inner plastic and a (softer) outer plastic shell, which are coded to fit only in one position. |

Insert the adaptor between the ELSA
splitter adaptor and the glasses resp. IR emitter cable, and the
power problem should be fixed.
